ATMOSPHERE

We live under the pressure of our atmosphere. The air around us puts a livable pressure of 14 psi on us. Outside of the atmosphere, there is no pressure. Astronauts in orbit must wear pressurized suits when they leave the cabin of their space shuttle. Under water there’s too much pressure. Scuba divers must breathe compressed air that pushes back against the crushing pressure of the water and allows the diver’s lungs to inflate.
